Michelle
Michelle started teaching swim lessons in her parent’s backyard in 2007 when she was 16 years old and first became a lifeguard and instructor. She always had a passion for teaching since she was a young girl. This business allowed her to combine her two passions together. Her business has grown organically, proudly serving over 400 students a year in Ancaster and the surrounding areas for 17 years. It brings her tremendous joy to have supported so many different swimmers in our community to achieve their goals. She works with people of all different backgrounds and ages including those with special needs and those who have been through traumatic experiences involving water. She provides differentiated instruction based on the learner’s needs and past experiences involving water because she believes that every has unique learning needs. Her first goal is building a relationship based on trust in order to help the learner gain confidence in the water.
Kim
As a professional lifeguard starting in 1980, Kim has seen massive changes in aquatics over the years. Kim has worked for We Swim since 2018 and brings all that she has learned working in Municipal and Non-Profit camp and recreation as a lifeguard, swim instructor, pool operator, first aid provider and lifesaving leadership instructor. With professional and lived experience, Kim brings her passion for first aid and swim instruction to your learning experience. She teaches to the individual needs of each student and employs a variety of strategies to tailor the program to you using the right approach to bring out the very best in each swimmer. Kim specializes in working with people of all ages who are differently-abled or have deep fear of the water. Kim’s teaching motto is “If you’re not laughing, you’re not learning”. Safe, fun, focused sums it up.
Emily
Emily has been teaching swimming lessons for over 5 years now in mostly private settings and has been WeSwim since 2024. She has lots of experience with all age groups and understands the nuances of catering to individual learning styles. From timid to seasonal swimmers aiming to better their strokes, she tailors each lesson to the swimmer and makes sure to create a supportive and fun learning environment. Being able to teach privately has allows maximize the time spent on attention to detail and swimmers are more confident and motivated. She excels at teaching swimmers who are new to swimming or even being in the water. She has quite the background working with nervous swimmers and would love to continue to make people more comfortable in the water and with their abilities.
Truth
Truth is an experienced swim instructor who has been teaching group and private lessons since 2017. She believes that every swimmer that goes through her lesson has come out more confident and has achieved something. She has a passion for helping swimmers of all ages reach their full potential. With new swimmers, she uses play based learning and confidence building and creates an enjoyable and engaging environment. She specializes in working with swimmers with special needs as well. She adapts lessons to target each swimmer’s skill set, age, development, and emotional ability. Learning to swim with her is always at each individual’s own pace. She has additional training in working with individuals with past traumas that may be holding them back from learning to swim.
